“My observation is that those commendable and very attractive Midwestern virtues of kindness and hard work really do prevail. The Lutheran thing is important to the College, but only about 200 of the 2000 students make it to the daily chapel service. “Oles” have fun and frolic, just like real college students, and the spirit on campus is good. Athletic events are well supported; many more attend football games than attend chapel. The rivalry with Carleton always provides some cheer, and local traditions like the Midnight Breakfast served at before the start of exams and the Lutefest spring concert give some notion of what this wholesome and healthy college experience is all about…”
