Best Kept College Secrets

Colleges for Real People

Presbyterian College – Clinton, South Carolina

Presbyterian is the smallest college (1200) in NCAA Division I sports, one of the very few colleges to have an article of clothing as a mascot (the Blue Hose, represented by a Scotsman in a kilt – with blue stockings), and one of the few to have a reasonably completely authenticated haunted building within a district of buildings listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

OK, if those attributes don’t compel the college applicant to pause, consider these:  Presbyterian is annually among the top colleges providing professors recognized for outstanding teaching; it houses a vibrant Confucius Institute and maintains close connections with sister schools in China and Germany; it is a college devoted to public service; it has recently established its own School of Pharmacy on campus; it is the site of the world’s largest bronze statue of a Scotsman in the world.
